Santiago will host the 2026 edition of The 50 Best Vineyards, an annual global event recognizing top wine tourism destinations. The event is scheduled for November 18, 2026, marking the first time the ceremony will be held in Chile.
Viña Don Melchor, situated within the Viña Concha y Toro Wine Centre in Pirque, has been selected as the official venue for the awards. The site, which opened in 2025, serves as a hub for wine culture, gastronomy, and hospitality.
The event is supported by the Government of Santiago and Grupo Liderazgo. It aims to highlight the region's development in wine tourism and showcase Chile’s winemaking heritage to international industry leaders.
The selection of Santiago as a host city reflects a broader shift in the global wine industry, where tourism has become as vital as production. Countries are increasingly investing in infrastructure—such as high-end hospitality, fine dining, and cultural experiences—to transform agricultural sites into comprehensive luxury destinations.
This trend highlights the growing importance of territorial branding. By hosting influential global events, regions like the Maipo Valley are successfully competing for international visibility, moving beyond simply exporting wine to exporting a complete, immersive lifestyle experience.
