A research team has introduced Latent Seal, a new framework that embeds watermarks directly into images during the generation process. By integrating the mark within the latent diffusion model itself, the system ensures provenance tracking without compromising visual fidelity.
Unlike post-generation watermarks that can be easily removed or bypassed, Latent Seal utilizes a latent-space encoder to blend a color watermark into the internal image representation. A corresponding decoder then retrieves the mark, allowing creators to verify the origin of their AI-generated assets.
Testing confirms that the embedded watermarks remain intact even after common manipulations like cropping, color adjustments, and compression. The process adds minimal latency to image production, making it a viable tool for industrial-scale generative services.
