Roots rock artist DownTown Mystic is set to release a new six-track EP titled Mystic Highway Road Trip on July 10. Distributed by The Orchard/Sony Music, the collection will be available across all major digital streaming platforms.
The project features a collaboration with an experienced rhythm section, including drummer Steve Holley and bassist Paul Page. The EP includes a mix of new material and an unedited version of the previously released track, Somebody's Always Doin' Something 2 Somebody.
Recording for the EP took place at Shorefire Studios in New Jersey. The project aims to capture an upbeat, high-energy sound, following the artist's recent work on the On E Street Remix EP.
The release reflects a broader trend among independent artists who utilize digital streaming to maintain consistent engagement with their audience. By layering new material with re-mastered or unedited archival tracks, musicians can effectively expand their catalog while keeping production costs manageable in a highly competitive market.
Furthermore, the emphasis on road-trip-themed music highlights a recurring effort to align artistic output with seasonal listening habits. This strategy, combined with the continued relevance of sync-licensing in television and film, allows independent acts to sustain visibility outside of traditional radio airplay.
