BinBase has released its 2026 Bank Identification Number database, featuring a new waterfall lookup system designed to improve payment routing accuracy. The update addresses the shift from legacy 6-digit standards to 8-digit and 11-digit ranges.
The transition to longer BINs and tokenized digital wallet transactions has caused routing errors for many merchants. By mapping sub-ranges back to the issuing bank, this system aims to reduce transaction declines and operational costs.
The updated dataset includes 29 specific attributes per range, such as Durbin exemption status and regional co-badging data. Developers can access these files in multiple formats, including SQLite and PostgreSQL, to integrate with existing payment engines.
