Atlanta's legal sector recently concluded its 15th annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, generating an impressive $635,312 for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This contribution is estimated to provide approximately 1.9 million meals for individuals facing food insecurity.
The two-week fundraising competition operates in collaboration with the Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, and Feeding Georgia. Its primary objective is to mobilize support against hunger across the Southeast region.
The 2026 event began with a Volunteer Legal day in April, where participants sorted and packed nearly 12,000 pounds of food. This effort alone supplied 9,889 meals to metro Atlanta and North Georgia residents.
More than 8,500 legal professionals from 79 firms and organizations competed. Greenberg Traurig received the President's Cup for overall points, while Habachy Law secured the Attorney General's Cup for highest points per person.
Food insecurity remains a persistent challenge in many communities, necessitating ongoing support from various sectors. Food banks, vital in addressing this need, frequently depend on large-scale community initiatives to secure necessary resources. Events like the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy highlight how professional communities can channel their collective efforts into significant charitable contributions, directly impacting the lives of vulnerable populations.
Such partnerships not only raise critical funds but also foster a sense of civic responsibility and awareness within professional groups, demonstrating a model for sustained philanthropic engagement.
